STOP!!!! I know what you’re thinking…”….Its because he’s BLACK!” YES…and no. The Harlem Renaissance has probably been one of the most interesting time periods that is commonly overlooked in school. I figured that if i wasn’t going to really learn about it in school, then I’d have to take time out and learn about it myself and what better way to do that than through this project. I chose Toomer because…well, because I had to choose an author. But, when I started reading about him and his life, I truly became interested in what he did and how he lived.
